While in Michigan I had the pleasure of meeting Laurie Finerty – known all around Michigan as the “Cemetery Lady”~
After my presentation May 14th – I was introduced to Laurie and she accompanied us to a cemetery for a tombstone I was hunting down – we were unable to located it – she has offered to help me located a few I am needing – She travels all of Michigan to record as much of the cemeteries that she can – I can’t say thank you enough to her for her much needed help – we bonded in the small time we were together (would love to “just hang out” with her – such a hoot!) She owns a alpaca farm in Alger, MI and it has been shearing time for them – spoke with her yesterday and she has me on her to do list~ Can’t wait to see what she can uncover when I can’t find a thing! Excited~
Afterwards we took Laurie & Ron/Terry Allen to lunch – had a wonderful lunch at Ron’s daughter’s restaurant in Hale Michigan (across rd from Town Hall where I gave my presentation)- will have to get the name of it – excellent food and service! Highly recommend! Jay loved their “Cajun Pizza” !
I met so many wonderful and helpful people on this last trip – the response was unbelievable – many wanting to help and contribute~ It has been truly a blessing to be doing this research – I have met the best people and all are wanting to come on board and do all they can to help me on my journey~ I love what I am doing and will do it til I can’t no more~ I foresee many many years of “uncovering” more of my Ancestors stories~
To have “The Cemetery Lady” also on board to help with the much needed records of burials and death in Michigan is a big help to me – 1870-present Michigan is where my Fathers family was located/buried.
I am trying to do a “Find A Grave” project along with as much documentations on death and “medical” records on my lines also – been doing this for over 20 years now so have a extensive records/photo’s collection already~
I try to note my research books on documents needed – look for Coni’s Notes in my books: here is where I put what is needed/where I left off /what I was doing on that line – I always highlight it in red.
Any help on locating these records would greatly be appreciated~
I have so much to still add – many to thank and much to write – just been very very very busy these past couple of months – ready to settle back into my lil corner of this world and start digging in to all the goodies I collected on my trips~
