Quest For Our Ancestral Roots
I was featured in the Daily Comet Newspaper out of Thibodaux Louisiana on July 25th 2011 and on the front page was an article on President Obama – I was truly honored to see my photo along beside his~
Just recently I was asked to do the unveiling of new trail signs at the Peoples State Forest in Barkhamsted Ct. at the Barkhamsted Lighthouse Site On Sept 10, 2011 – I am a descendant and leading genealogist of the people that lived on Ragged Mountain in Barkhamsted – The Hartford Stage coach used my families homestead as a marker and named it the Barkhamsted Lighthouse due to the campfires from the Indian Village and my people that resided there~ They lived on the mountain for around a hundred years – It was one of the last standing Native American Villages – many races at one time or the other was in the village – but the majority was the Chagum family and their descendants – Descendant of the Narragansett and Long Island Indians~
On Nov 15, 2011 the signs were spray painted with graffiti and terrible sayings~

Prejudice prevents us from working together to make a world better for ALL. Who are we to think that anyone is better than another….we are all God’s creations. I’m sure we make Him VERY sad at times for being so stupid!
